Fancy beating the January blues in the UK’s happiest place to live? Now you can for £119,000 – but sea legs are a must.
Woodbridge is a quaint riverside town, located in Suffolk, and is just under two hours away from the bustling capital city of London.
And it happens to be the happiest place to live in Britain.

The title was given to the port town as part of Rightmove’s 13th annual Happy at Home Index.
Those who took part scored the area particularly high for three reasons; being able to be themselves, the community spirit and friendliness.
Now, an aptly named houseboat has gone on the market – Ray of Sunshine – at an attractive price of £119,000.
And at that market value, it’s currently the cheapest offering, that isn’t auctioned, in the area, reports Luxury Property News.
Located on Ferry Quay off the River Deben, the vessel is a replica of a 45ft steel wide beam barge.
The two-bedroom houseboat, with added outside living space on offer, was designed and built in 2008.
It has a 10ft beam and flat bottom hull, with an “extensive schedule of work” last carried out in 2016, so there may be some TLC needed.
Inside, there’s a spacious sitting room, kitchen and private bathroom, complete with a walk-in shower – all of which overlook the “unrivalled views”.
The pièce de résistance, though, is the main bedroom, which features a separate set of doors that open out right onto the terrace; perfect for soaking up the surrounding tranquil sounds.
Although compact, it packs a lot of space, with a second bedroom also included that doubles up as a walk-in wardrobe.
And it’s cheap to live in, too.
It’s estimated that costs are just £36 per week in wharfage fees and £50 per quarter for water and sewage.
Electricity is only £10, as a standing charge plus usage, with WiFi just £15 per month.
If you’ve got a car, that’s no issue either, as to park opposite your Ray of Sunshine is a bargain £10 per week.
According to Rightmove, the average price for a house in the area is £427,350, so this is an absolute steal.
If you fancy a happier – and cheaper – 2025, then this rare property, listed by Fine and Country Woodbridge, could be the perfect fit.
