GREAT NEW ALLURE
With this edition limited to just 20 pieces, the manufacture center stages the first watch to boast a ceramic bezel in two highly-distinctive colors.
“I’m really proud to see our team breathe life into a material that embodies Hublot‘s soul perfectly: a subtle mix of science and alchemy, with a dash of effervescent boldness. After over four years of research, we can say we master the art of combining bright colors, something that’s patented – a real technical feat”. This is how Mathias Buttet, Hublot’s R&D Director, announced the arrival of the Big Bang Unico Magic Ceramic watch in a press release, 20 years after the first model in the collection had been rolled out.
This performance is showcased through a surprising dark gray ceramic bezel adorned with blue dots. In addition to separating colors, the technical feat lies in the ability to create and position azure-hued shapes. Here, there’s no room for randomness as everything’s imagined using a groundbreaking process for which a patent has been filed. The scratchproof bezel tops a 42 mm-diameter case crafted in microblasted and polished black ceramic. This precious holder hosts the HUB1280 movement. This selfwinding caliber, featuring some 354 components, delivers a power reserve of at least 72 hours to the watch. Over the course of three days, the hour and minute hands tick by accurately, whilst the short-cycle time is measured precisely via the chronograph’s flyback function. In this limited series, blending rigor and creativity, alchemy is the name of the game. In a nutshell, the realms of possibility have been pushed back once again.
