Oris Collabs with the Muppets on a Miss Piggy Edition of the ProPilot X

In 2023, Oris surprised literally everybody with one of the best releases of the year when it paid homage to everyone’s favorite anthropomorphic amphibian. It wasn’t enough (or “easy”) to drop a very green-dialed version of the ProPilot X but the Swiss brand also included the visage of one Kermit the Frog in the date window. This was something you might expect from more “playful” budget brands like Swatch, Timex, and the like, but it was downright jaw-dropping from a leading luxury watchmaker.

Now, if you happen to own the Kermit Edition of the ProPilot X and perhaps would like a matching reference for a special lady friend, Oris has you covered with its latest release.

For its follow-up Muppets collab, Oris has once again tapped the ProPilot X, but with a twist. Unlike the green-dialed Kermit Edition, which had a subtle nod to the frog in the date window, the Miss Piggy Edition avoids direct imagery of the Muppet on the dial at all. Instead, Piggy is shown through a small window in the solid caseback, displaying her on the rotor every so often. This is not so different from the viewing of Kermit only one day per month. It’s also important to note that the Miss Piggy Edition doesn’t have a date window at all.

The dial does, however, pay homage to Piggy in its own way. First of all, the entire dial is hot pink, but the hour markers follow suit in a slightly darker shade. These markers are also applied — a first for the ProPilot X — and is interrupted by a lab-grown diamond at 12 o’clock. A ladies watch through and through, the handset does away with the lume of the typical ProPilot X.

Some Firsts for the ProPilot X

Typically in titanium, the Miss Piggy Edition doesn’t just have tons of pink on the dial but also comes in a 34mm stainless steel case (down from 39mm). The case size and material are both firsts for the model and brings a steel bracelet to match. Rounding out the dimensions are a 41.5mm lug-to-lug and an 11mm thickness.

Powering the watch is a Caliber 531 automatic movement, which departs from the typical manufacture calibers Oris uses for the ProPilot X lineup. Instead, this movement features a Sellita base.

With all the theoretical “downgrades,” the Miss Piggy Edition of the ProPilot X also has a cheaper $3,200 price tag compared to the $4,600 of the Kermit Edition. It would’ve been even more affordable had there not been a diamond on the dial. Not limited in edition size, this watch is available now from Oris’ website.
